Working in Scottdale Artists School's large north light studio, this workshop will concentrate on still life and flower painting in oil from life. The event will feature demonstrations and lectures with individual attention to each artist.

Studio Class
Five days of painting still life and flowers from life in north central Texas. Pat Waymon has created an inspiring studio space, with plenty of room, superb equipment and a convenient, well- stocked art supply store next door. There will be new exercises and ideas to start the imagination flowing.
Arrive Malaga Airport from New York
Visit the charming town of Frigiliana, voted the 'prettiest village in Andalucía' by the Spanish tourism authority.
Travel to Granada and spend the next 2 days in the foothills of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada. Granada, visit the famous Alhambra - a splendid example of the Moorish influence that has shaped so much of Spain.
Continue to Cordoba, a charming Moorish-influenced city with historic Jewish Quarter and the ornate 8th-century La Mezquita, once one of the world's largest mosques, and now a Roman Catholic cathedral.
Next stop Seville, spectacular city dating back nearly 2,000 years, home to Seville Cathedral, the third largest Roman Catholic church in the world; tour the Cathedral, the final resting place of Christopher Columbus, with its famous Giralda Bell Tower. Discover Barrio Santa Cruz, and explore the maze of old streets.
We travel to cliff-top Ronda. One of the last Moorish cities to fall to the Crusaders, Ronda provides further insights into Spain's Moorish past ; see the historic bullring and spectacular Tajo Gorge. Ronda retains much of its historic charm, particularly its old town. It is famous worldwide for its dramatic escarpments and views, and for the deep El Tajo gorge that carries the rio Guadalevín through its centre. Visitors make a beeline for the 18th century Puente Nuevo 'new' bridge, which straddles the 100m chasm below, for its unparalleled views out over the Serranía de Ronda mountains.
Lastly, we travel to Malaga, capital of the province and with its lovely Harbor worth a visit. Famous for the pasas (raisins), Malaga is also well known for its superb wines.
Fly back to New York from Malaga
I will teach in oils, and James Asher will be along to teach in watercolor. You may enjoy painting with us September 12-21 where James will be the host artist in Venice for The Veneto Experience.
Kenn Backhaus will be host artist for an adventure in southern France. Kevin Macpherson will host Zeal for New Zealand in October for fun down under.

After a day of rest, the fun moves into the Bob Tompkins studio. Bring your plein air
paintings, studies, and reference materials to class,
and we will learn to develop these into finished works.
Or, you may decide to paint still life or flowers. The choice is yours. May 20,21,22- Studio
For the third workshop, we will concentrate
on still life and flowers.
